Fullmetal Alchemist is often regarded as one of the best franchises in anime. Both fans and critics agree with how high it’s rated on MAL, but in the fandom, there’s a debate that happens every now and again. Which series is better? The original anime aired back in the early 2002 and featured a largely original story that trailed off from the manga. In 2005, the series was re-released as Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood that followed the manga more closely.

However, in this video, we’ll be highlighting the main differences between the two shows. While the OG FMA has a lot going for it, there are some very significant differences and some liberties the show takes with the original source material.
